MEETING OF THE NPM NETWORK FROM THE SOUTH-EAST EUROPE
The National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) on 26 and 27 May participated in the meeting of the NPM network of the South-east Europe in Ljubljana. Aside of the members of the network, a representative from the Hungarian Ombudsman participated in the meeting. At the meeting it was decided to welcome the membership of the National Preventive Mechanism of Bulgaria.
The primary goal of the meeting was the exchange of experiences and best practices for preparation of the annual report, an obligation in accordance with the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture. In these terms, the meaning i.e. the goal of the annual report was in depth discussed, the preparation for its writing, the content it has to have, as well as its presentation and submission to the responsible bodies.
Exchange of experiences about the working methodology was also part of the meeting. A visit to the Detention Centre in the Police Station Ljubljana also took place.
