REGIONAL FORUM FOR THE RULE OF LAW
Deputy Ombudsman Ms. Vaska Bajramovska-Mustafa and State Counselor Vjollca Rusaj participated in the sixth Regional Law Enforcement Forum in Southeast Europe, held in Dubrovnik, Republic of Croatia, organized by the AIRE Center and Civil Rights Defenders.
The forum was attended by 170 representatives from the judiciary (supreme courts, constitutional courts, court councils), academies and institutions for training in the judiciary, government agents before the Strasbourg Court, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo , Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey and Hungary. Discussions were held on the rights of the child, that is, the best interest of the child in the actions of the competent courts and the practice of the European Court of Human Rights on issues related to family violence (where children are victims and witnesses), trafficking in human beings, asylum, custody and childcare, as well as access to justice for children.
The purpose of this Forum was to promote the implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights at the national level, to foster regional cooperation in the context of the continued development of the rule of law and human rights and to assist in the process of integration of the region into the EU.
